Microscopic Findings of Coronary Thrombus in ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction and Short-term Clinical Results

In ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), age of thrombus is considered as predictor of long-term prognosis. Microscopically, the fresh thrombus showed minimally layered pattern of the fibrin and relatively intact circulating cells. And the old thrombus showed organization with ingrowth of the spindle cells and weak deposition of the young connective tissue. We report short term clinical results related to microscopic findings of thrombus in 3 STEMI cases. It is important that old thrombus showed bad short term clinical result in patient with STEMI.
